J.J. Abrams Confirms No Star Wars: The Force Awakens Footage at D23

J.J. Abrams says not to expect Star Wars: The Force Awakens footage

Disney’s D23 Expo is this weekend, and though they’re set to reveal a whole slew of details about their slate of films, one thing they won’t be showing is new Star Wars: The Force Awakens footage.

“We are showing no footage, behind the scenes or otherwise,” director J.J. Abrams tells EW. “In the fall, there’ll be a trailer…We’re thrilled to go to D23 and meet the fans, but it’s a tricky thing to try and rush [footage] for a convention or preexisting event that would, of course, be fun to show something at.”

Abrams also took the time to disclose where they’re at in post-production on the film, adding: “I’m still editing and we’re working on refining the cut, but it’s incredibly fun to see the movie come together. You realize certain things that you don’t need, certain things you can pull out.”

Though no footage will be shown at the event, it’s entirely possible for a new poster or images to make their world premiere, so check back here on Saturday at 10:30 A.M. PST as we live blog the “Worlds, Galaxies, and Universes: Live Action at The Walt Disney Studios” panel!
