Marvel’s Agent Carter Recruits Ken Marino to Play Joseph Manfredi

Agent Carter adds another comic book character with Ken Marino as Joseph Manfredi!

Marvel Entertainment and ABC have announced another casting addition for Marvel’s Agent Carter with Ken Marino (“Childrens Hospital,” “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp”) as mob boss Joseph Manfredi.

The son of legendary Maggia boss Silvio “Silvermane” Manfredi, Joseph first appeared in the pages of Daredevil as the costumed villain Blackwing, who used trained bats to do his bidding. After many defeats, Joseph eventually turned his eye toward a more traditional mob boss role, which will likely be more of the basis for his television appearance.

“We’ve loved working with Ken ever since he played a gay ex-demon for us on ‘Reaper,’ and we were so happy he was available for this role,” said Executive Producers Tara Butters, Chris Dingess, and Michele Fazekas. “His range is incredible – he can go from comedy to romance to drama with ease. Writing for him is easy, because he can do pretty much anything. And he used to have a karaoke room in his house, which makes him even more awesome.”

“At Marvel, even our villains need a certain degree of charm as they make life difficult for our heroes,” said Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television. “Ken brings a quality to Joseph Manfredi that only serves to make him even more menacing, adding another layer of depth to our already outstanding supporting cast.”

Marvel’s Agent Carter returns for a second season of adventure and intrigue, starring Hayley Atwell in the titular role of the unstoppable secret agent for the SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve). Dedicated to the fight against new atomic age threats in the wake of World War II, Peggy must now journey from New York City to Los Angeles for her most dangerous assignment yet. But even as she discovers new friends, a new home–and perhaps even a new love–she’s about to find out that the bright lights of the post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect.

The Marvel’s Agent Carter cast includes Hayley Atwell as Agent Carter, James D’Arcy as Edwin Jarvis, Chad Michael Murray as Agent Jack Thompson and Enver Gjokaj as Chief Daniel Sousa.

It was also recently announced that supporting cast for season two will include Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Bridget Regan as Dottie Underwood, Wynn Everett as Whitney Frost, Reggie Austin as Dr. Jason Wilkes, Currie Graham as Calvin Chadwick, Lotte Verbeek as Ana Jarvis, Lesley Boone as Rose, and Kurtwood Smith as Vernon Masters.

Tara Butters, Michele Fazekas, Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely, Chris Dingess, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Joe Quesada, Stan Lee and Jeph Loeb are executive producers. Marvel’s Agent Carter is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.
