Tony Jaa, Jet Li and Deepika Padukone join the xXx sequel cast
We previously learned that Samuel L. Jackson would be returning as NSA Agent Augustus Gibbons and that UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor would also have a role in the xXx sequel, and now twitch is reporting that the xXx sequel cast also includes international action stars Jet Li and Tony Jaa, as well as Indian star Deepika Padukone.
Terminator Salvation scribes Michael Ferris and John Brancato provided the most recent draft of the script, with Furious series mastermind Neal H. Moritz on deck to produce and D.J. Caruso directing.
Diesel starred as leading man Xander Cage in 2002’s XXX. Although a sequel, XXX: State of the Union, hit theaters in 2005 and starred Ice Cube, playing another XXX agent, Darius Stone, it failed to recapture the box office clout of the original.
Tentatively titled xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, the third big screen actioner has been planned for years, but now it looks like it may finally be set to become a reality.
