Jon Bernthal and Tom Holland made joint audition tapes for Punisher and Spider-Man
Though the pair may never share screen time together as their characters, actor Jon Bernthal has revealed that he and Tom Holland worked together on their audition tapes for Marvel for the roles of The Punisher and Spider-Man.
“We were making tapes from Ireland in the process of getting him cast in Spider-Man and then he and I made a tape for The Punisher,” Bernthal tells NY Daily News. “During this independent movie that we did in Ireland we were constantly making tapes for Marvel — just acting together…These tapes definitely do exist, you can call Marvel and ask for it, but that’s like breaking into Fort Knox.”
Coincidentally, The Punisher made his comic book debut in Amazing Spider-Man #129 where he was originally hired to kill Spider-Man. The pair have had even more run ins over the years, including Frank saving Peter’s live during the events of “Civil War,” a moment we probably won’t be seeing on the big screen.
Bernthal is set to make his debut as The Punisher in Marvel’s Daredevil Season 2, which premieres on Netflix March 18, and Tom Holland will appear as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War on May 6 before starring in his own film on July 7, 2017.
