Warner Bros. Pictures Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice added $52.4 million domestically its second weekend to take its total to $261.5 million. In comparison, the Zack Snyder-directed Man of Steel earned a total of $668 million worldwide in 2013.

$53.4 million of the $681 million worldwide total has come from IMAX theaters. For the domestic weekend, 388 IMAX screens grossed $4.2 million, hitting a total of $25.3 million. For the overseas markets, 571 IMAX screens earned $5.8 million, sending the overseas total to $28.1 million.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice cost $250 million to make before marketing and earned a B CinemaScore from audiences last weekend. The film stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane returning from Man of Steel, joined by Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Holly Hunter as Senator Finch, as well as Scoot McNairy, Callan Mulvey and Tao Okamoto.

In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante, fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

20th Century Fox’s Deadpool, which announced its Blu-ray and DVD release last week, remained in the top 10 with another $3.5 million for a domestic total of $355.1 million after eight weeks. Internationally, Deadpool has earned $399.3 million for a worldwide total of $752 million. Starring Ryan Reynolds, the comic book adaptation cost just $58 million to make before marketing.
