Daisy Ridley Shoots Down Latest Rey’s Parents Theory

Even before Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released, the mystery of Daisy Ridley’s Rey’s parents was a hot talking point. Following the release of the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer last week, many fans were convinced that Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso was Rey’s mother.

Speaking with MTV, Daisy Ridley shot down the theory, saying:  “I’m not being funny you guys, but just because she’s white and got brown hair… it doesn’t mean she’s my mom.”

Ridley took it a step further, saying she doesn’t think Rey’s parentage is as important a story beat as many are making it out to be.

“I think the amazing thing about [Episode VII] is that Finn and Rey don’t come from anywhere, and they find a place. So to me, it’s funny that people think it’s so important, because I don’t really think it is.”

In further Star Wars news, Lucasfilm has officially revealed the product packaging for Rogue One, which you can check out below!

Production continues on the still-untitled Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is written and directed by Rian Johnson and continues the storylines introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The first video released at the start of production even saw the return to Skellig Michael. The film welcomes back cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis. New cast members will include Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro, Academy Award nominee Laura Dern, and talented newcomer Kelly Marie Tran.

Star Wars: Episode VIII is scheduled for release December 15, 2017, but this year will see the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story from director Gareth Edwards on December 16.
