Variety reports that The Crown and Everest star Vanessa Kirby has joined the cast of Mission: Impossible 6. Details are light on who she will play and what her role will entail, but the outlet notes her role is expected to be on the same level as Rebecca Ferguson’s in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. Ferguson is also expected to return for the sequel, along with co-stars Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner.
Production on the upcoming Mission: Impossible 6 is set to begin April 10 in Paris with Christopher McQuarrie, who previously helmed Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, once again writing and directing. McQuarrie noted in a recent interview that even more familiar faces from the franchise will be returning for the upcoming film. Mission: Impossible 6 is set to debut in theaters July 27, 2018.
McQuarrie’s return to the franchise marks the first time a director has helmed more than one Mission: Impossible film. Brian De Palma directed the original adaptation, which was followed by sequels directed by John Woo, J.J, Abrams and Brad Bird.
