“We had talked about having the costume at various points last season and it never felt right,” Harkavy tells the outlet, confirming that her new Black Canary will make her costumed debut in the season six opener. “It felt that we wanted to save it for a special occasion, and the premiere seemed like a really good place to do it. She needs something tactical. She has this meta power, but she also has the bo staff, so we just felt it was right for her to have something that was definitely more than a nod to the DCU character, but also something that was distinctive from what we’ve seen before. This really fits the bill.”

In addition to Juliana Harkavy as Dinah Drake, Arrow stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, John Barrowman as Malcom Merlyn, with Paul Blackthorne as Detective Lance. The series is executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and Sarah Schechter.

Arrow, which formerly aired Wednesday nights at 8:00pm ET/PT on The CW, will move to Thursday nights at 9:00pm ET/PT when season six premieres October 12.
