New Titans Photos Reveal Jason Todd & Dick Grayson Confrontation

DC Entertainment has released two new photos from the upcoming DC Universe series Titans, revealing a tense confrontation between Jason Todd (Curran Walters) & Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites). You can check out the new photos now in the gallery below (via IGN).

Titans will partly explore how the relationship between the original Robin, Dick Grayson, and Bruce Wayne/Batman became estranged, and the new Robin’s arrival. Dick coming face-to-face with Jason Todd, essentially his replacement at Batman’s side, is the first time the two Robins have interacted with one another in a live-action project.

Showrunner Greg Walker told the outlet that Jason is a character that is “seemingly unaffected by darkness — he kind of embraces it or walks right through it,” which contrasts with Dick’s own journey. Walker explains that Dick will struggle “when he sees another Robin and how that Robin is different and has a different relationship with ‘dad.’ And the second child gets away with stuff the first child would never get away with in a family, and ours is really a family show.”

Speaking of Dad, Walker also confirmed that Titans is not a Batman show, but that they wanted to explore the relationship between Dick and Bruce as a way of an origin story for the original Robin, specifically from Dick’s perspective of who Bruce/Batman is aka his version of his caretaker/parent. Dick’s journey will reveal a “kid dealing with trauma and grief and issues that need to have an external release,” which explains why the character is aggressive in violent scenes.
