Gwendoline Christie Correctly Predicted Game of Thrones Finale Years Ago

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for the Game of Thrones finale!

There are a few people who could have predicted such a surprising ending for HBO’s epic drama Game of Thrones, and one of them is Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie. During an interview with Extra TV taken in 2017, she involuntarily “spoiled” the series finale while promoting Game of Thrones season 7 along with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

Both actors gave their thoughts on who would end up taking the Iron Throne (obviously, that was way before Drogon’s fire melted it). Coster-Waldau’s picks were either Daenerys Targaryen or the Night King, but Christie had someone else in mind.

“Don’t you think it’ll be someone out of left-field?” Christie said. “[Daenarys and the Night King] seem like the obvious choices, but what we know about the show constantly surprises you. So, I’m wondering if it might be Bran. We keep seeing the world from his perspective. We keep seeing the visions. So, is he in the future projecting into the past?”

“The Three-Eyed Raven as the king? No, it doesn’t make sense. If this is real, right, he also made Jaime push him out the window?”, Coster-Waldau asked as Christie immediately replied: “Yes.”

Christie’s prediction might have made no sense to Coster-Waldau at the time, but eventually the actress who played Brienne of Tarth was the one proven right, as Brandon Stark became King of the Six Kingdoms in the series finale.
