Mindy Kaling Says She Has Talked About Ms. Marvel With Marvel Studios

After Carol Danvers’ success at the box-office in Captain Marvel, it seems that Marvel Studios have acquired a taste for bringing more role model heroines to the big screen. And Kamala Khan’s turn might come very soon, as movie actress, writer and producer Mindy Kaling has expressed her desire to work with Ms. Marvel. Speaking with MTV News, Kaling revealed that she has actually discussed the idea with someone at Marvel Studios.

“I think the people I’ve spoken to [at] Marvel about it are so excited about the character, and I think that they’re trying to figure out what to do with it, and I told them I would help in any way, because I truly love her,” Kaling said. “But they seemed really interested, and I think they will probably do something.”

Then Kaling suggested that the new video on-demand service Disney+ might be the ideal place for a live-action transposition of Ms. Marvel. “Now that there’s, like, this streaming platform with them, it might be something like that, but I think they understand how much there is… the excitement, you know,” she added. “Riz [Ahmed], me, every different Desi actor was very excited.”

When Kaling was asked who she thinks should play the hero, she made a very interesting suggestion. “You know, I feel like [Ms. Marvel] might need to be an unknown. Wouldn’t that be exciting?” she concluded.

This is not the first time Marvel Studios has expressed an interest in Ms. Marvel, but at the moment nothing nothing definitive has been said about an adaptation.
