Exclusive Preview: Detective Comics #1005

The Arkham Knight has made her presence known in Gotham City, and Batman hasn’t faced a foe like this before. While someone else was under the Arkham Knight’s mask in the hit video game series, DC’s official Arkham Knight is a new character: Astrid Arkham. She was born in Arkham Asylum and delivered by the inmates, including the Joker himself. The inmates loved Astrid’s mother and practically worship her. They’ve even formed a cult of personality around Astrid as she undertakes an ambitious plan to bring Batman to his knees.

Unlike Batman’s traditional foes, Astrid may truly want the best for Gotham City’s residents. She’s even gone out of her way to protect innocent lives during her crusade against Batman. But now that her endgame has arrived, Batman and Robin may be outmatched by Astrid and her Arkham cult.

In Superhero Hype’s exclusive preview for Detective Comics #1005, Peter Tomasi and artist Brad Walker prepare Batman and Robin for a final showdown with the Arkham Knight. However, Astrid not only craves this confrontation, she may have outmaneuvered the Dark Knight. She wants nothing less than to tear down Batman’s legend and replace it with her own. With the inmates of Arkham Asylum on her side, the Arkham Knight may rise even higher than before.

Here’s the official description from DC: “The finale of the Arkham Knight saga arrives as the Knight’s surprising cult within Arkham Asylum unleashes its full power! Will Batman be swept under by the madness? Who is the Knight, to have inspired so much loyalty? And is there any way of stopping them that won’t just cause their legend to grow?“
