The Boys‘ unique approach to the superhero genre has won the hearts of many superheroes fans. After its release two weeks ago, the series has become one of the most-watched shows on Amazon Prime. Head of Amazon Studios Jennifer Salke revealed that the show has surpassed the company’s wildest dreams, saying:
“We are thrilled that The Boys have surpassed our predictions for viewing in its first two weeks, and has become one of our most watched Amazon Original series by our Prime Video customers. This creates great momentum and excitement for us as we get ready for season two.”

The Boys co-creator and executive producer Erik Kripke also shared his excitement for the series’ performance.
“I’m so beyond thrilled with the response to Season 1,” Kripke said. “And mainly, it’s made me get my ass in gear and work even harder on Season 2. I don’t want Season 2 to go bigger, I want it to go deeper. A more intense, more insane, more wrenching, more character-driven season. It’s my one and only goal to make Season 2 even better than Season 1.”
The official numbers of viewers were not given by the streaming service.
The Boys is an irreverent take on what happens when superheroes, as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as gods, abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about the supergroup known as “The Seven.” The show retains most of the comic’s (available for purchase here) boundary-pushing violence and sexuality while exploring the dark side of superhero celebrity and fame.
