Stan Lee’s Daughter Takes Sony’s Side in Spider-Man Dispute with Disney

A new Marvel Civil War has reportedly started in recent days, and it sees Sony facing Disney/Marvel over Spider-Man‘s rights. More and more people are siding with one or the other, but now a very important player has taken the field. In a recent interview with TMZ, Joan Celia (JC) Lee revealed her dislike towards how Disney and Marvel Studios are handling his father’s legacy, the late Stan Lee.

“Marvel and Disney seeking total control of my father’s creations must be checked and balanced by others who, while still seeking to profit, have genuine respect for Stan Lee and his legacy,” Lee said. “Whether it’s Sony or someone else’s, the continued evolution of Stan’s characters and his legacy deserves multiple points of view. When my father died, no one from Marvel or Disney reached out to me.”

Then Stan Lee’s daughter took another hard shot at Marvel and Disney’s executives.

“From day one, they have commoditized my father’s work and never shown him or his legacy any respect or decency,” she added. “In the end, no one could have treated my father worse than Marvel and Disney’s executives.”

Lee’s words came as a surprise because they revealed a serious fracture between Stan Lee’s family and Disney/Marvel executives. We don’t know if there were some things behind the scenes which caused the escalation of this situation. However, Stan Lee’s popularity has thrived anew among the youngest Marvel fans thanks to the work of Marvel Studios and Disney.
