Yesterday, word broke that Game of Thrones star Kit Harington will enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At D23, Marvel’s Kevin Feige confirmed the report by introducing Harington as the latest cast member of Eternals. Additionally, Gemma Chan was also confirmed for a leading role in the film.

Harington will portray Dane Whitman a.k.a. the Black Knight. In Marvel’s comic book universe, Whitman is a descendant of Sir Percy of Scandia, the Black Knight in King Arthur’s court. Whitman was also a key member of the Avengers during the ’80s and ’90s. He a;so wields the Ebony Blade, a cursed sword which has been passed down his family for generations.

While Chan previously portrayed the Kree warrior Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel, she’ll play Sersi. In the comics, Sersi is often the leading female Eternal and she openly embraces humanity. Unlike her fellow immortals, Sersi lives among humans and doesn’t isolate herself. She also joined the Avengers during the ’90s and formed a romantic bond with the Black Knight.
