We may have to wait for a little for the next installment of the franchise, but now a new Jurassic World short by Colin Trevorrow can tide us over. It aired this past weekend on FX on Sunday, September 15, and now it is available online. Trevorrow’s short opens with a long take featuring a family venturing into California’s Big Rock National Park for a camping trip. Unfortunately, the camp is located near the Lockwood Manor, where the dinosaurs escaped at the end of Fallen Kingdom. And soon enough, they will have to face one of those prehistoric threats.

Speaking about the short in a recent interview, Colin Trevorrow revealed his intention to create a “larger world” than the one fans saw in the previous installments of Jurassic World.
“It felt like a first step into a larger world after the last film,” Trevorrow said. “You have these animals loose in an unfamiliar environment, they’re disoriented, struggling to adapt. The first people they run into are bound to be camping. I wanted to see that.”
“Battle at Big Rock” stars André Holland, Natalie Martinez, Melody Hurd, and Pierson Salvador. It was written by Emily Carmichael, who previously co-wrote Pacific Rim: Uprising and is currently working on the Jurassic World 3 script with Trevorrow. Additionally, it features cinematography by Larry Fong (Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice) and music by Amie Doherty.
In the meantime, Jurassic World 3 still plans to start shooting next year. The movie is scheduled to come out summer 2021, with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard reprising their roles as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing, respectively.
