Even though Loki was killed in Avengers: Infinity War, the events of Avengers: Endgame‘s branching timelines gave him new life. That version of Loki escaped from the Avengers with the Tesseract in tow. Tom Hiddleston’s Loki will headline his own Disney+ series in the near future. During his recent visit to The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Hiddleston noted that he’s been fielding a lot of questions about Loki.
“Two questions I’ve been asked: Is Loki really dead, and what is Loki doing with that cube,” said Hiddleston. “It’s always the cubes. This series will answer both of the questions.”
Loki’s survival in the branching timeline may have stranded Thor on Earth and completely disrupted the events of Thor: The Dark World. Whether Loki’s timeline will rejoin the main MCU is a question that may not be resolved until the series arrives in 2021.
