Stargirl Teaser Promises the New Generation of DC Heroes

Next year, Geoff Johns’ Stargirl will be the next live-action superhero series on DC Universe. However, fans received a fresh glimpse of the titular heroine in new teaser. Within the footage, Trae Romano’s Mike Dugan, Anjelika Washington’s currently unnamed character, Brec Bassinger’s Courtney Whitmore, and Yvette Monreal’s character are introduced as “a new generation of superheroes.”

Courtney’s voiceover adds that “the staff chose me, and I choose you.” Before the very end of the teaser, we finally see Courtney in costume as Stargirl.

Within the series, Courtney discovers that her stepfather, Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson) was once a superhero sidekick. Courtney also discovers the cosmic rod staff that allows her to reinvent herself as Stargirl. A few members of the Justice Society will also appear in the series. Joel McHale recurs as Sylvester Pemberton (Starman), with Brian Stapf as Ted Grant (Wildcat), Lou Ferrigno Jr. as Rex Tyler (Hourman), and Henry Thomas as Charles McNider (Dr. Mid-Nite).

Stargirl will premiere on DC Universe in Spring 2020. However, it will also air the next day on The CW.
