Netflix Announces Beginning of Production for The Witcher Season 2

The moment to toss a coin to your witcher all over again is coming soon, o valley of plenty. Netflix has announced in a press release that the production for The Witcher Season 2 has begun in the UK. Sometime in 2021, the fans will get the chance to follow the new adventures of Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia. Of course, he will have by his side not only Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer, but also Freya Allan’s Ciri and Joey Batey’s unpredictable Jaskier.

The streaming service announced also a couple of interesting names who will join the fantasy show. According to the press release, Game of Thrones‘ Kristofer Hivju (Tormund) will play Nivellen. Peaky Blinders‘ Paul Bullion will portray Lambert. The new cast for season two also includes Yasen Atour (Young Wallender) as Coen, Agnes Bjorn as Vereena, Thue Ersted Rasmussen (Fast and Furious 9) as Eskel, as well as Aisha Fabienne Ross (The Danish Girl) as Lydia, and the young Mecia Simson as Francesca.

Returning cast include MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, Tom Canton as Filavandrel, Lilly Cooper as Murta, Jeremy Crawford as Yarpin Zigrin, Eamon Farren as Cahir, Mahesh Jadu as Vilgefortz, Terence Maynard as Artorius, Lars Mikkelson as Stregobor, Mimi Ndiweni as Fringilla Vigo, Royce Pierreson as Istredd, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte as Dara, as well as Anna Shaffer as Triss Merigold, and Therica Wilson Read as Sabrina.

Four directors will helm the second series. The first two episodes will see Stephen Surjik in charge, who recently worked on Umbrella Academy. Sarah O’Gorman (Cursed) will direct episodes 203 and 204. She’ll be followed by Geeta Patel (Meet The Patels) for episodes 206 and 207. The fifth episode and the season’s finale fall into the hands of Ed Bazalgette (The Last Kingdom).
