Earlier this month, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker received its digital release. And on Tuesday, March 31, the Blu-ray release of The Rise of Skywalker will finally arrive as well. Ahead of the Blu-ray, Disney has passed along a behind-the-scenes video from The Rise of Skywalker. This clip puts the spotlight on D-O, the new droid adopted by Rey and company in the film. Within the video, Skywalker Sound’s Supervising Sound Editor, Matthew Wood, recalls speaking with director J.J. Abrams about what D-O should sound like. However, Wood says he quickly realized that Abrams was the right choice to voice the droid.
Daisy Ridley also appears in the clip as she recalls shooting a scene between Rey and D-O. Additionally, Ridley notes that it was an intentional choice for Rey to withhold the affection from D-O that she previously displayed towards BB-8. However, Rey eventually warms up to the latest droid.
