The Flash Showrunner Promises a Huge Battle in the Season Finale

Like many other TV shows, The Flash was impacted by the novel coronavirus pandemic. The ongoing global health scare recently forced The CW to shave the current season’s episode count from 22 to 19. However, it sounds like the series’ cast and crew are making the best of a bad situation. While speaking with CBR, executive producer Eric Wallace shared how the pandemic altered their original plans for ending the season. He also teased what viewers can expect from the upcoming finale.

“I think people will appreciate, also, one of the biggest episodes of the season just coincidentally was always planned to be Episode 6.19,” said Wallace. “So, one of the biggest episodes with one of the biggest battles we’ve ever filmed in the six-season history of The Flash, now is on display in our new season finale. It’s kind of exciting amidst all this tragedy.”

Wallace was also asked whether remaining episodes stick to the “villain-of-the-week” or pivot toward wrapping up the season’s overarching narrative. He suggested that they do “a little bit of both” in the long run. But even more surprising was his revelation that a few familiar faces could show up as the season draws to a close.

“We do have — I won’t ruin the surprise, two episodes from now, but in 6.18, you get more of a very traditional meta of the week,” added Wallace. “And you get some guest stars from the past — maybe even as old as way back in Seasons 1 and 2, you know? Gonna be great.”
