Peter Parker has had his hands full in Nick Spencer’s run on Amazing Spider-Man, but things are about to get even more dire. Via ComicBook, Norman Osborn’s alter ego, the Green Goblin, is returning in the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man #850.
This will be Osborn’s first direct confrontation with Spider-Man since Amazing Spider-Man #800. In Dan Slott’s final Spidey storyline, “Go Down Swinging,” Osborn bonded with the Carnage symbiote and became Red Goblin. However, Osborn’s ego wouldn’t allow him to “share” a victory over Spider-Man. His mind broke, and Osborn came to believe that he was actually Carnage’s alter ego, Cletus Kasady.
Regardless, Osborn regained his memories during the events of last year’s crossover, Absolute Carnage. It also gave Osborn the chance to blame his criminal past on the Carnage symbiote’s influence. Subsequently, the Green Goblin is once again a free man.

Additionally, Marvel dropped InHyuk Lee’s promotional art for Amazing Spider-Man #850; which features an ominous and terrifying close up of Green Goblin and his pumpkin bomb.
Amazing Spider-Man #850 will hit comic book stores in September.
