Amazon’s highly-anticipated take on Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time series has recruited a few familiar faces and virtual unknowns to play its many characters. But now, the series has enlisted a pair of fantasy genre veterans. The Wrap is reporting that Sophie Okonedo and Kae Alexander have been cast in the upcoming TV show.
Okonedo received an Academy Award nomination for her performance in Hotel Rwanda in 2004. More recently, she appeared in the Hellboy reboot as Lady Hatton, and she will next be seen in Kenneth Branagh’s upcoming adaptation of Death on the Nile. Meanwhile, Alexander has shown up on SYFY’s Krypton series as Araame and also made recurring appearances on Fleabag. However, Game of Thrones fans might recognize her as a Child of the Forest known as Leaf.

The Wheel of Time’s producers have drafted Okonedo to play Siuan Sanche, an Aes Sedai like Rosamund Pike’s Moiraine. Alexander is playing Min Farshaw, a character known for her “viewings” that allow glimpses into the future. Okonedo and Alexander aren’t the only new additions to The Wheel of Time’s already stacked cast. The series’ official Twitter account recently shared that Kate Fleetwood, Peter Franzen, and Clare Perkins have also come onboard. They will co-star as Liandrin Guirale, Stepin, and Kerene Nagashi, respectively.
Amazon has still not announced a release date for The Wheel of Time.
