Michael Keaton Confirmed To Return as Batman in The Flash Movie

It’s been almost a year since word first broke that Michael Keaton was joining the cast of Warner Bros.’ The Flash standalone film as an alternate version of Bruce Wayne/Batman. Since then, fans have been excited to see Keaton suit up as the Caped Crusader for the first time since Batman Returns premiered in 1992. Regardless, Keaton himself cast doubt on his involvement last month, citing concerns over the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. But now it looks like he’s finally made up his mind. Via The Wrap, a rep for Keaton’s talent agency has confirmed his appearance in Barry Allen’s multiverse-trotting adventure.

This news comes a few hours after director Andy Muschietti announced that The Flash has officially started shooting in London. Additionally, he shared an early look at the film’s updated logo. Keaton won’t be the only actor donning cape and cowl when the movie arrives next year. Ben Affleck is also reportedly coming back for one last (?) go-round as Bruce Wayne.

Christina Hodson wrote the latest draft of The Flash’s script, which takes cues from DC’s Flashpoint storyline. The film’s supporting cast includes Maribel Verdú as Barry’s mother, Nora Allen, and Ron Livingston as his father, Henry. Kiersey Clemons will also reprise her role as Iris West from Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Plus, the movie will mark the first appearance of Sasha Calle as Supergirl.

The Flash will zoom into theaters on November 4, 2022.
