Supergirl Showrunners Tease a Romance Between Lex and Nyxly

Lex Luthor and Nyxly already pose big enough threats on their own against Kara Danvers and her allies. But as Supergirl’s final season comes to a close, the two villains will find some common ground, plus a little something extra. According to showrunners Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner, viewers can expect Lex and Nyxly to become the Arrowverse’s new celebrity couple throughout the show’s remaining episodes.

Queller and Rovner teased Lex and Nyxly’s budding romance during a recent interview with The Wrap. And it sounds like this will unfold as a natural extension of their plans for National City.

“One of the things we’re excited about is that Lex and Nyxly are gonna team up in a, not only a world domination way, but a love story,” revealed Rovner. “So we’re excited to see that.”

“Lex is gonna finally fall in love with his equal,” added Queller.

Jon Cryer’s Lex hasn’t appeared on the series since the third episode of season 6, which aired back in April. Regardless, Peta Sergeant’s Nyxly has been holding down the fort since then, and she’s not the only one. Julie Gonzalo’s Andrea Rojas has also been building toward her own rise to power as Acrata. Whatever she’s planning, both showrunners promise that fans have “a lot of trouble to look forward to.”

“What we can say about Acrata is that, in her quest for getting further embedded in the Super Friends, you know, she causes a bit of trouble,” said Rovner.

The next episode of Supergirl airs tomorrow night on The CW.
