John Cena Shares Peacemaker Season 2 Release Date Update

A little over a month ago, John Cena announced his retirement as a competitor in the WWE events, revealing that 2025 would be his last in-ring year. But with his career as an actor rapidly on the rise, his fans have no reason to worry. His next feature film, Jackpot!, comes out on Amazon Prime Video on Thursday, August 15. And in a recent interview, he potentially revealed the release date of the sophomore season of his highly successful HBO Max superhero series, Peacemaker.

John Cena potentially reveals when Peacemaker Season 2 will come out on MAX

During an interview at the red carpet event for Jackpot!, Cena indicated when Peacemaker Season 2 will debut on HBO Max. Notably, the upcoming season will take place in the DC Universe (DCU), a soft reboot of the now-defunct DC Extended Universe (DCEU), in which the inaugural season is set.

Answering a question about his thoughts on the possible release date of Season 2, the pro-wrestling icon implied that the new episodes could come out at some point in 2025. However, he declined to provide any further details. “I’m hopeful in saying next year… And that’s about the only Peacemaker question I can answer,” Cena told The Direct.

This reticent approach appears to be part of the general theme with respect to Peacemaker Season 2. Cena recently confirmed to Collider that filming for Season 2 had begun, though he again refused to divulge much besides that there would be another dance number in the upcoming season. He added that filming “is going exceptionally well. We’re very proud of what we have so far,” before remarking, “You see how much of a death grip DC has on me? ‘I can confirm that. I cannot confirm that.’ That’s it.”

Previously, James Gunn, the co-head of DCU and Peacemaker creator, hinted on X (formerly, Twitter) that the second season would happen after Superman, which he wrote and directed. The film wrapped production in late July 2024 and is slated to premiere in IMAX in the U.S. theaters on July 11, 2025. Given that production has already started for the second season of Peacemaker, fans probably wouldn’t have to wait long after the release of Superman to see the show again. Perhaps, the jingoistic gun-for-hire will return as early as September 2025. If that isn’t the case, it likely wouldn’t be anytime after November 2025.
