NYCC 2018: The American Gods Season 2 Trailer is Here!

Starz has unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming sophomore season of American Gods, based on the novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman. The series’ cast, along with Gaiman himself, were on hand to present the new footage at New York Comic-Con ahead of the season’s 2019 premiere date.

The trailer sets up the epic showdown between the older, traditional gods who are gradually being forgotten and the newer, vice-embodying deities who seek to replace them. Much like Shadow and Mr. Wednesday’s journey, the road to a second season of American Gods hasn’t been an easy one. Series developers and showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green departed the series last year over budgetary concerns. They were replaced by Jesse Alexander. However, it was announced last month that Alexander was asked to step aside, leaving Gaiman with the majority of creative control.

Gaiman will sticking around NYCC tomorrow to promote his other new series, Good Omens, based on the 1990 novel that he co-wrote with Terry Pratchett. That series is produced by Amazon and BBC, and it will also be airing next year.
