Lauren Tsai Joins the Cast of Legion Season 3

It’s no secret that Legion isn’t part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, the series has maintained solid ratings and a devoted fanbase since it premiered on FX in 2017. With season 3 about to get underway, the network has announced its first bit of new casting. According to Variety, actress Lauren Tsai has joined the show as a mutant named Switch. Her character is described as having “a secret ability [that] serves as the key to executing David Haller’s plan.”

Tsai also posted the news to her Twitter account earlier today. You can check out what she had to say below.

A character named Switch has previously shown up in Marvel’s comic universe as the alias of a man named Devon Alomar. Making his debut in the pages of X-Force in the late ‘90s, Devon was gifted with the ability of Neuralkinesis. This allowed him to swap minds with other individuals and assume control of their bodies. Devon was a member of the Hellions, a team of mutants that also included Bedlam, Magma, and Feral, to name a few. Variety doesn’t specify what powers Tsai’s character will have, so it’s not clear if she’ll be playing a gender flipped version of Devon or if she’ll have an entirely different set of abilities.

Tsai’s only TV credit is Terrace House: Aloha State, a Big Brother-esque Japanese reality series that aired from 2016-2017. Her appearance on Legion will mark her first acting role on television. She has also dabbled in runway modeling and artistry. Ironically enough, Tsai drew a variant cover for an issue of Marvel’s West Coast Avengers that was released last year.

Legion’s third season will premiere on FX later this year. Do you have any theories about Tsai’s character? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
