Although it still doesn’t have an official title, CBS All Access’ upcoming Star Trek series centered around Patrick Stewart’s Jean-Luc Picard is one of the most highly anticipated series of 2019. Now, it looks like the producers are beginning to flesh out the supporting cast. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Santiago Cabrera and Michelle Hurd have joined the show as series regulars.
Cabrera came into prominence when he starred as the clairvoyant painter Isaac Mendez on the inaugural season of NBC’s Heroes. Since then, he has had leading roles on HBO’s Big Little Lies and CBS’ Salvation. In 2007, Cabrera was cast as Aquaman in George Miller’s aborted Justice League: Mortal film.
Hurd currently stars on NBC’s Blindspot and she has also appeared on Hawaii Five-0 and Ash vs. Evil Dead. Additionally, she had a recurring role as District Attorney Samantha Reyes in Daredevil and Jessica Jones.

As expected, the report didn’t provide any details on who Cabrera and Hurd are playing on the show. Our first guess is that they’ll be a pair of Picard’s subordinates. Both actors certainly have experience portraying authoritative characters, so they should feel right at home on the deck of a starship. However, It’s not clear if Picard will even be in Starfleet or commanding his own vessel. It’s also possible that at least one of the actors will take on a villainous role.
