Vincent Cassel Joins the Cast of Westworld Season 3

Westworld doesn’t return until next year. But given the recent additions to the cast, it sounds like the show’s third season is going to be worth the wait. According to Variety, French actor Vincent Cassel is the newest recruit to join HBO’s acclaimed sci-fi series. Unfortunately, the report did not provide any details about what character he’s playing.

Cassel’s biggest claim to fame is starring in the two-part French film Mesrine, a biopic about French gangster Jacques Mesrine. American audiences might recognize him from starring opposite Natalie Portman in Black Swan. Additionally, Cassel has appeared in Eastern Promises, Ocean’s Twelve and Thirteen, and Jason Bourne.

Production on Westworld season 3 got underway last month. Cassel joins an updated cast roster that includes Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul and Master of None’s Lena Waithe. They will star alongside the series’ returning A-listers including Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, and Ed Harris.

The show’s second season ended with Dolores (Wood) escaping the titular theme park following a violent uprising. The last we saw of her, Dolores had set up shop in Arnold Weber’s home with a host printer and several android cores. Creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy have teased that the new episodes will mark a “radical shift” for the series. Now that Westworld itself is no longer a factor in the story, it will be interesting to see how the hosts acclimate to life in the real world without any programming holding them back.
