Next month, Amazon will premiere the first season of The Boys, based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s dark comic series. And based on its latest trailer, fans should be in for a bloody good time. In the new footage, Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and his team set out against The Seven, a corporate-sponsored group of superheroes who aren’t as noble as they appear.
Along with Butcher, the trailer introduces fans to the rest of the team: Frenchie, Mother’s Milk, and the Female. New to the group is Hughie, a young TV repair shop employee. He ends up losing his girlfriend after a literal run-in with The Seven. Following his loss, Hughie joins the team, but he still has some reservations about their methods.
Along the way, fans also learn more about The Seven including Homelander, a determined Superman-esque leader who wants to destroy The Boys. There’s also Starlight, a young heroine who is disillusioned by The Seven after joining their team.
