Although the third season of Star Trek: Discovery appears to be moving full speed ahead in a new direction, the minisode-based Short Treks might have a couple of familiar faces return. A new report from Trekmovie suggests that Ethan Peck and Rebecca Romijn may come back for a new episode, based on now-deleted posts from director Mark Pellington.
The site noticed that Pellington put up a couple of images on his Instagram account over the weekend that indicated he was working on an episode titled “Chaos Theory,” featuring Peck as Spock and Romijn as Number One. Peck and Romijn took over those roles in Star Trek: Discovery season 2. Pellington’s Instagram images can be seen over at Trekmovie’s page.
Alex Kurtzman previously told Deadline he was looking for a way to bring the Enterprise characters back for more adventures.

“I would be remiss in saying you’re going to see Spock again on Discovery,” said Kurtzman. “because we’ve obviously jumped so far into the future that it wouldn’t make sense. The idea of bringing Ethan back, and Anson [Mount], and Rebecca, and the Enterprise…we loved it so much that to find a way to do that is definitely something we’re thinking about a lot.”
It’s unclear if Mount will also reprise his role on Short Treks. Pellington’s post didn’t include Mount’s name.
