While the first season of Amazon Prime’s The Boys left the title characters in a rough place, their immediate future is secured. Amazon renewed the series even before it debuted. Now, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke is teasing what’s coming next in his adaptation of Garh Ennis and Darick Robertson’s cult classic comic.
“The Boys are on the run, wanted by the law,” said Kripke during a Reddit AMA. “[Homelander] is ascendant, now that Stillwell isn’t there to control him. A new hero joins the Seven — Stormfront played by Aya Cash. We’re trying not to go bigger — but to go deeper. More intense. We study each character, put them under pressure, take away the thing that’s most important to them. Chaos ensues.”

Kripke also addressed the absence of Billy Butcher’s dog, Terror.
“I really sadly had to make the choice to not play Terror ’cause with everything else we have going on with this show, shooting with dogs is JUST TOO F***ING HARD. But I can spoil — we bring Terror back for one episode in Season 2, where he has a starring role. He’s too important a character to the world — and to Butcher — not to explore.”
Additionally, Kripke hinted that the show might adapt Herogasm, The Boys miniseries by Ennis and artist John McCrea. In the comic, the Boys infiltrated an annual superhero orgy. However, Kripke believes he’s found a way to put that on Amazon without going too far.
“We JUST figured out how to do Herogasm!! It’ll come in Season 3 maybe (if we get picked up for Season 3),” wrote Kripke. “I’ve really wanted to do it, but needed to figure out our twist on it, so it’s not just an hour of hardcore porn. But I think we got it!! Super excited about that.”
