The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is heading to Netflx later this month as a much anticipated follow up to Jim Henson’s beloved cult classic film. Now, Netflix has dropped the final trailer for Age of Resistance as it welcomes fans back into the world of Thra.
This original series is a prequel to The Dark Crystal movie. The story revolves around the Crystal of Truth a.k.a. “the Source of All Life.” As Rian explains, the Skeksis have selfishly used it to strengthen themselves. As a result, the Darkening is born and all of Thra at risk. Now, Rian and his fellow Gelflings Deet and Brea have to stop the Skeksis before it’s too late.

Taron Egerton provides the voice of Rian, and Jason Isaacs (Star Trek: Discovery) portrays the dreaded Skeksis emperor, skekSo. Mark Hamill, Simon Pegg, Alicia Vikander, Lena Headey, Helena Bonham Carter and Keegan Michael-Key also star in the series.
Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk) directed the series with help from the talented team at The Jim Henson Company. As demonstrated in the trailer below, traditional puppet effects were used instead of CGI.
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance will drop its first season on Netflix on August 30.
