HBO’s Watchmen brought a breath of fresh air to the superhero-related series landscape this fall. Now that the 9-episode series has reached its climax, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released the superhero drama television series on the digital market. The first season of Watchmen is now available for $34.99 retail in HD and $24.99 retail on SD.
“There has been an overwhelming reception of Watchmen’s debut season from both fans and critics alike, beginning with the very first episode to last night’s finale,” said Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Senior VP Marketing Rosemary Markson, in a press release. “This is a true testament to the creators, producers and actors behind the series and we are thrilled to release Season One immediately on digital beginning today.”
The digital release of Watchmen Season 1 includes all nine episodes as well as over 75 minutes of bonus content. Among the nearly 60 minutes of never-before-seen features, fans will find the special feature called Watchmen: Unmasked, and the 2019 New York Comic-Con panel. On top of that, the Watchmen soundtrack is now available on digital too.

Set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, Watchmen embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own. Originally published as a 12-issue miniseries beginning in 1986, Watchmen quickly become one of sequential art’s most acclaimed stories. The original story centers on a murder-mystery, before unfolding into a planet-altering conspiracy that ultimately asks where the fine line is drawn between heroes and villains.
Lindelof served as creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer on the Watchmen series, with Tom Spezialy, Stephen Williams, and Joseph Iberti also executive producing. In addition to directing the pilot, Nicole Kassell executive produced. The series comes from Lindelof’s White Rabbit as well as from Warner Bros. Television and is based on the DC Comics characters.
