Despite recent reports about a production delay, the next Disney+ Star Wars series, Obi-Wan, is still set to film early next year. And during his recent appearance on Good Morning America, Ewan McGregor provided an update.
“I’m excited about it,” said McGregor. “I think the last one I shot was in 2003, so it’s been a while. It’ll just be there, I think. Also, I’m reminding myself by watching their new films and The Mandalorian and stuff, I really enjoyed. I keep myself as current as I can with the Lucasfilm world. I don’t think it will take two minutes; I’ll put the cloak back on and I’ll be there, I think.”

McGregor also provided some specifics as far as when Obi-Wan will film.
“We start shooting at the very beginning of next year, they’re in pre-production from this summer,” added McGregor. There are scripts that I’ve read that are really good, they’re continuing to write on them to make them even better, and we start very early next year.”
Last month, McGregor attempted to reassure fans after the delay became public: “It just slipped to next year, that’s all.”
Fans can watch the Good Morning America interview below, with the Obi-Wan info coming up around the 2:24 mark.
The Obi-Wan series will likely premiere on Disney+ in late 2021 or 2022.
