First Look At Stranger Things Season 4 Comes From Russia With Love

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Stranger Things 4!

At the end of Stranger Things 3, it was broadly hinted that “the American” held captive in Russia was a familiar face. However, the series played coy about whether Sheriff Jim Hopper (David Harbour) survived the destruction of the Russian lab hidden beneath Hawkins. Now, we know for sure: Hopper lives! Netflix has dropped the first Stranger Things 4 teaser; which confirms Hopper’s survival.

The clip, which Netflix has dubbed “From Russia with Love” after the James Bond movie, features Russian captives forced to work on a railroad in freezing temperatures. A very gaunt Hopper is finally seen among them, but he’s missing his signature hair and beard. There’s no one coming to save Hopper because no one knows he’s alive. Hopper’s foster daughter, Eleven, lost her powers last season on Stranger Things. That doesn’t leave Hopper with much hope for escape.

Series creators, the Duffer brothers, also released a statement about the new clip.

“We’re excited to officially confirm that production on Stranger Things 4 is now underway — and even more excited to announce the return of Hopper! Although it’s not all good news for our “American”; he is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, where he will face dangers both human…and other. Meanwhile, back in the states, a new horror is beginning to surface, something long buried, something that connects everything….

Season 4 is shaping up to be the biggest and most frightening season yet, and we cannot wait for everyone to see more. In the meantime — pray for the American.”

Stranger Things 4 is currently being filmed. However, Netflix hasn’t set a premiere date yet.
