One way or the other, Jason Isaac has been part of the most important franchises in Hollywood in recent years. But there are still some roles that are intriguing to him, especially when it comes to Star Wars. In a recent interview with Collider, Isaacs was asked which one of the animated characters he voiced he would like to play in live-action. Isaacs’s first answer was, of course, Superman, because “who wouldn’t fly?”
But then the actor reconsidered his choice, pointing out that flying is not that comfortable after all. He came to this conclusion after watching people flying on their broomsticks while playing Quidditch in the Harry Potter films. Isaacs’ next thought was Satan, but this choice didn’t seem to satisfy the actor either. Eventually, he came around with the Grand Inquisitor from Star Wars Rebels. The reason?
“He has the coolest lightsaber in the entire Star Wars Universe,” Isaacs confessed.

Jason Isaacs played the Grand Inquisitor in the first couple of seasons of Star Wars Rebels. In the story set five years before A New Hope, the Grand Inquisitor’s job was to hunt down the Jedi who had survived the Great Jedi Purge. The show aired from October 2014 to March 2018.
The actor’s reference to Superman is due to the fact that the actor dubbed the Man of Steel in the recent Superman: Red Son animated feature. As for the role of Satan, he voiced the Prince of Hell in the videogame Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and its sequel.
