The CW Plans a Superman and Lois/Batwoman Crossover For 2021

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Arrowverse remains in a state of flux. But even though production is shut down, The CW is plotting big things for the Arrowverse’s triumphant return, including a crossover headlined by two big-name superheroes. Deadline is reporting that The CW will air a two-hour crossover featuring Superman and Lois and Batwoman.

The CW Chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz made this announcement during a recent scheduling call. Pedowitz also confirmed that the event won’t air in December, the traditional timeframe for the six previous Arrowverse crossovers. Instead, The CW is aiming for the first or second quarter of 2021.

“We’re still working on it,” said Pedowitz. “It will be a smaller event than usual, we’re only planning a two-hour event. We are talking about doing Superman and Batwoman together. There’s a lot of characters coming from our other shows.”

Tyler Hoechlin and his on-screen wife, Elizabeth Tulloch, were already lined up to headline Superman and Lois before COVID-19 struck. The ongoing health crisis has postponed its pilot shoot to a later date. The pandemic has also had similar effects on Ruby Rose’s Batwoman series; which is about to conclude its irst season earlier than expected.

Last fall, The CW upped Batwoman‘s episode count from 13 to 22. But due to the production shutdowns, the Batwoman season finale will this Sunday, May 17. The CW also recently renewed Batwoman for a second season.
