Anthony Mackie Hopes To Resume Shooting The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Soon

The COVID-19 outbreak recently forced Marvel to shuffle the release dates for all of their upcoming films. However, the studio has yet to announce whether the ongoing health crisis will cause any of their new TV series to suffer the same fate. Right now, it looks like Marvel still intends to debut their first Disney+ offering, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, in August. And while appearing on The Tonight Show last night, Anthony Mackie updated fans on the show’s plan to resume production.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was shooting Prague when the pandemic struck back in March. Production on the series has been suspended ever since. But according to Mackie, they won’t have much left to film when cameras eventually start rolling again.

“I’m happy to say we are not cancelled,” said Mackie. “We are on hold. We’re going back hopefully sometime soon and finish it up, we have very little stuff to do. I’m very happy with it. We have a little more to go back to do. But everybody rest assured, it will come out.”

Last month, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier got the greenlight to continue filming in the Czech Republic after new guidelines were put in place by the country’s film commission. Although Mackie’s words are reassuring, he didn’t address whether the series will meet its August premiere date. Even if they resumed production this month, it seems like they would be cutting it pretty close. In the long run, it all presumably depends on how much time the crew needs for post-production.
