Y: The Last Man Will Now Air on FX on Hulu

The long-awaited adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra’s Y: The Last Man has gone through several changes over the course of its development, switching up everything from its showrunning team to its leading man. Now, the upcoming TV series is making a subtle change to its network. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Y: The Last Man is moving from FX to FX on Hulu.

Hulu announced the news today during the streaming service’s NewsFronts presentation. FX officially launched their partnership with Hulu back in March. Some of this arrangement’s earliest offerings include Devs and Mrs. America, which many critics have hailed as two of 2020’s best new shows. Additionally, the presentation revealed that Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Stories anthology series will premiere on FX on Hulu as well.

Earlier this year, Y: The Last Man hit a major speedbump when Barry Keoghan vacated his role as the titular last man, Yorick Brown. He was soon replaced by Ben Schnetzer, but the change likely meant that many scenes needed to be re-filmed. Unfortunately, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic forced the project into a state of indefinite shutdown, and it’s not clear how far along they are in this process. FX was also originally planning to air the series with the simple title of Y. But since this didn’t offer any clues as to what the show was about, the network formally announced on Twitter last month that the series would retain the title of its comic book source material.

Y: The Last Man is still without a premiere date.
