Everyone Has a Dark Side In The Boys Season 2 Character Posters

A key theme of Amazon’s The Boys is that people, superpowered or otherwise, aren’t always what they appear to be. It occasionally seems like everyone on the show is harboring a dark secret about themselves. To drive this point home, Amazon (via JoBlo) has debuted 12 new character posters for the series’ upcoming second season.

Each poster is split right down the middle to emphasize the characters’ duality. In the case of the actual Boys, their posters are all stained blood red on one side to indicate the brutality of their war against Vought’s corrupt superheroes. However, the posters featuring the supes take a different approach. On the left-hand side, the characters stand patriotically before the stripes of the American flag. But on the right, their heads are surrounded by halos of syringes most likely containing Compound V, making them all look like parodies of the Statue of Liberty.

Last season, The Boys discovered that unbeknownst to the public, Compound V is the source of all metahuman abilities. That explains the “Heroes Aren’t Born. They’re Made.” tagline that adorns every poster. And even though it looks like they’ll be spending most of the new episodes on the run, The Boys probably aren’t going to rest until the world learns the truth about their favorite heroes.

The Boys season 2 will premiere on Amazon Prime on September 4.
