Dragon’s Dogma Trailer Reveals Netflix’s Adaptation of the Capcom Game

Back in March 2019, Netflix announced that they would adapt Capcom’s action role-playing video game Dragon’s Dogma into an anime series. And now the streaming service has dropped the official trailer for the upcoming fantasy show. The story focuses on Ethan, a young man who has lost everything, even his heart, to a dragon and now is looking for payback. After coming back to life as an Arisen, destined to face the dragon and stop an apocalypse, he will join forces with his Pawn, Hannah, who is always watching his back, to hunt the beast down. (Pawns in the game are NPCs who provide combat support and advice.)

Shin’ya Sugai directed the series from a screenplay written by Kurasumi Sunayama. The official synopsis of Dragon’s Dogma reads:

“After losing his home to a dragon, Ethan sets out to hunt it down once and for all. A pawn appears by his side and serves to protect his life. But the dangers that lie in wait for Ethan are beyond their imaginations, for when you fight a monster… you just may become one too. Resurrected as an Arisen, Ethan sets out to vanquish the Dragon that took his heart. But with every demon he battles, his humanity slips further away.”

Dragon’s Dogma is produced by Shin’ya Sugai, Takashi Kitahara, and Hiroyuki Kobayashi, with Taiki Sakurai serving as an executive producer. The show debuts exclusively on Netflix on Sept. 17.
