The Walking Dead: World Beyond Video Previews a New Survival Experience

Next month, immediately following The Walking Dead’s season 10 finale, AMC will debut its newest companion series. This time, the focus is on a group of younger characters who’ve grown up during the zombie outbreak. But while the last decade have shown them relative safety, circumstances will force them to literally step outside of their comfort zone. AMC has just shared a new featurette for The Walking Dead: World Beyond that teases the perilous journey the teens are about to embark on.

Judging by the new footage, World Beyond’s gated community looks more idyllic than anything we’ve seen on the flagship Walking Dead series. But since the show features a cast of teenagers, expect angsty emotions to run high. Nicolas Cantu, who plays Elton, even describe the series as the “teenage perspective” on surviving the apocalypse. Nico Tortorella (Felix Carlucci) also hinted that the characters are striving for a sense of normalcy in their lives.

“They are hungry for life, not just survival,” said Tortorella.

Headlining series are Alexa Mansour and Aliyah Royale as sisters Hope and Iris. According to executive producer Scott M. Gimple, the two characters have a complicated relationship. They love each other, but there’s still some “tension” between them; and they will have to put this aside once they’re “drawn outside of their place of safety by a mission of sorts.”

The Walking Dead: World Beyond premieres on Sunday, October 4 at pm on AMC.
