Report: Stranger Things 4 May Resume Filming at the End of the Month

It’s been over a year since the last season of Stranger Things debuted on Netflix, and expectations are understandably high for the next batch of episodes. Unfortunately, fans were forced to wait even longer after the COVID-19 outbreak shut down production on the new season back in March. But now it looks like the cast and crew are getting ready to go back to work. Deadline is reporting that the series’ producers are hoping to resume shooting Stranger Things 4 in Georgia in less than two weeks.

Currently, the plan is for cameras to start rolling again on Monday, September 28. But since nothing is guaranteed as the world continues to navigate the pandemic, this date is subject to change. Stranger Things 4 was already a few weeks into production when the ongoing health crisis began affecting film and TV projects.

Earlier this year, Netflix also released a teaser for the fourth season that confirmed what most fans suspected all along. The clip showed David Harbour’s Jim Hopper working at a Russian prison camp, indicating that he survived the events of last season’s finale. Harbour recently teased his character’s role in the upcoming season in a new interview with Total Film (via Games Radar). He also likened his “resurrection” to that of a certain Lord of the Rings character.

“We were always interested in that idea of the Gandalf resurrection,” said Harbour. “Gandalf the Grey who fights the Balrog and then becomes Gandalf the White. It’s the idea of the resurrection of the character. And mythologically, Hopper, in a sense, had to change. I mean, you couldn’t go on the way he was going on. He has to resurrect in some way. So it was a great opportunity to do that. So we’ll see a very different guy going forwards. The same guy but in a different vein. It’s a very cool thing to be able to play.”

Netflix still hasn’t set a release date for Stranger Things 4.
