Well, it seems that The Mandalorian has done it again. During the fourth night of the 72nd Annual Emmy artisans’ awards, Ludwig Goransson’s work on the Disney+ series has been rewarded for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series. Disney’s The Mandalorian ran against The Crown, Euphoria, Ozark, and Succession. It was the first time that a show from the Star Wars universe landed an Emmy. So far, only the animated Star Wars Rebels got a nomination back in 2018.
The Mandalorian and Watchmen are now tied at seven each going into the final night. Both shows are rocking this year’s edition of the Emmy awards so far. Today, the fifth and last night of this year’s edition will air. Disney’s series is still racing for the prestigious Outstanding Drama Series Award, while HBO’s show is in the race for the Outstanding Limited Series one. On top of that, Watchmen still has plenty of its cast competing in the leading and supporting actress and actor categories.

After winning an Emmy for the Disney+ series, Goransson has nearly reached his EGOT status. Prior, he also landed an Oscar for his work on Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther. On top of that, he won at the Grammys for Childish Gambino’s This Is America, and Black Panther once again. Only a Tony Award remains on his to-do list.
The composer took up to Twitter for his acceptance speech, thanking The Mandalorian producers for allowing him to “cross genres and boundaries.”
