The Subtle Knife Cuts Between Worlds In New His Dark Materials Trailer
In the first season of His Dark Materials, Lyra Silvertongue (Dafne Keen) and Will Parry (Amir Wilson) found their way into a new world after leaving their homes behind. This season, Lyra and Will’s separate quests will bring them together in Cittàgazze. However, their enemies aren’t far behind.
HBO has released a new trailer for His Dark Materials season 2, which finds the Magisterium and the witches on the verge of war. While the witches are looking for a fight, the Magisterium is bringing the heavy weaponry. Regardless, Will and Lyra have bigger problems. Mrs. Coulter (Ruth Wilson) and Lord Carlo Boreal (Ariyon Bakare) have discovered that the children have fled their respective worlds. And they are already tracking them down.

Additionally, the trailer depicts the scene in which Will is given a very special knife in Cittàgazze. This blade can literally cut between worlds, which may make it one of the most sought after objects in the multiverse. Lyra and Will’s enemies would kill to have it, and that’s not a euphemism.
Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Lee Scoresby also makes his return in the trailer, as he tries to catch up with Lyra. And it looks like he’s picked up an ally along the way.
His Dark Materials season 2 will hit HBO and HBO Max on Monday, November 16.
