Iwan Rheon Defends Game of Thrones Final Season

It might sound surprising for most fans, but someone has enjoyed Game of Thrones Season 8. The show’s final season left many spectators with a bad taste in their mouth for the way the showrunners ended the story. But actor Iwan Rheon, who portrayed the vicious Ramsay Bolton on the show, counts himself among those who liked it. In a recent interview with NME, Rheon praised David Benioff and Daniel Weiss for their work.

“It was always gonna be divisive,” he said. “I don’t think it was gonna be any other way, to be honest. Obviously, you can’t please everyone. I felt that they made a very strong decision to where they thought the season would go and I think they went with it and told the story really well.”

The Welsh actor went on to describe the Battle of Winterfell as a genius strike from D&D.

“I thought the Battle of Winterfell was absolute genius, the best television I’ve ever seen,” he added. “I thought it was really brave and they went for it.”

Rheon then described as ‘hilarious’ the notorious Change.org petition titled ‘Remake Game of Thrones Season 8 with competent writers’ fans launched a few months ago. He also commented on Charles Dance confessing his disappointment in the finale by saying that he has no problem with it and dismissing it with an ‘It’s his opinion.’
