Due to the COVID-19 global emergency, Marvel Studios’ first release on Disney+ will be the WandaVision series. That honor should have been up to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but fans will have to wait a bit longer to watch it. The upcoming limited series will technically kick off Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As fans already know, WandaVision will pay homage to many TV comedies that fans have watched over the years. But according to Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, the show went beyond homaging classics like The Dick Van Dyke Show. It will also take a note or two from modern fan-favorite shows.
“I loved TV, and watched far too much The Dick Van Dyke Show and I Love Lucy and Bewitched and everything,” Feige said to Empire before adding that they “go up to the Modern Family and The Office style. The talk-to-the-camera, shaky-camera, documentary style.”

In the same interview, Feige also teased the state of mind of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff before the series, implying that the Mind Stone might have had a profound impact on her.
“If you look at the Infinity Saga, I don’t think any single person has gone through more pain and trauma than Wanda Maximoff,” he said. “And no character seems to be as powerful as Wanda Maximoff. And no character has a power-set that is as ill-defined and unexplored as Wanda Maximoff. So it seemed exploring that would be worthwhile post-Endgame. Who else is aware of that power? Where did it come from? Did the Mind Stone unlock it?”
The upcoming series will explore Scarlet Witch’s powers ahead of her (likely more antagonistic) role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The show should explain how Vision can still be alive in any form after the events of the Infinity saga.
WandaVision will hit Disney+ on January 15, 2021.
