Netflix Drops Official Teaser and Release Date for Shadow and Bone

It’s been a while since fans last heard any news from the Shadow and Bone series. The upcoming adaptation of Leigh Bardugo’s young-adult fantasy-adventure books wrapped filming in February and has been in post-production since. Fans of the author’s “Grisha” universe, named for its characters with the ability to manipulate the elements, will have to wait till Spring, as Netflix revealed that it would debut in April of next year. The books follow the adventures of teenaged orphan Alina Starkov, as she discovers a magic that could help heal her home country. The Grishaverse also includes the Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom duology, as well as King of Scars, offering plenty of content from which Netflix can draw.

The official synopsis for Shadow and Bone reads:

“Based on Leigh Bardugo’s worldwide bestselling Grishaverse novels, Shadow and Bone finds us in a war-torn world where lowly soldier and orphan Alina Starkov has just unleashed an extraordinary power that could be the key to setting her country free. With the monstrous threat of the Shadow Fold looming, Alina is torn from everything she knows to train as part of an elite army of magical soldiers known as Grisha. Shadow and Bone will debut on Netflix in April 2021.
